I once sat in a stall next to a very talkative dude who kept a running commentary going, interspersed with grunts and sighs of relief. Midway through this performance came not the final flush but a loudly announced “courtesy flush!”

I couldn't conclude my business in such a way! I especially dislike talking in the bathroom, some people chat on the phone like it's completely normal!

My wife and I had guests round one night and before they arrived I was cleaning up the spare bathroom. The scent was whisky and vanilla or something to that effect. Once I noticed it I said I wonder if there is a social utility in scented soaps. In that when someone emerges from the bathroom they can remark on the scent implying that they washing of the hands was done by default. Rather than announcing "Hey I washed my hands". This seems a little more dignified.

Yes Robbie! That's an excellent point, definitely a more subtle way of saying it. And an "out there" enough scent would definitely draw comment from someone who had never used it.

I'm going to start doing this at other people's houses immediately, I might even prompt my partner to smell my hands to double down on the fact. On second thoughts.

You could also say to people as a hint that they should wash their hands by saying, oh, wait until you try the "Tropical Jelly and Cupcakes" hand wash in the bathroom. It's delightful. (that is a real scent we have at the moment!).

Soap scents and dispensers got my interest. In for handella. I think fear can play a good role as I remember washing hands every 5 minutes in starting of the covid era, it really helped me ensuring that people surrounding me were safe(family mostly). Overall, phenomenal ideas Mark, great awareness for an ignored affair.

Thanks for reading Mayank, all in all a bit of fun but I'm not well at the moment and I can't help but wonder if hand washing discipline was better, if I'd have still been struck down!
